What you need:
1 loser who writes a status in which a few people comment on within the first few minutes
2 people who decide to retry their past experiment and continue posting to see how many comments one can have on a facebook status
I met mikes friend matt via this way – and unfortunately to a person called benji who made ONE comment, he now will get the little red flag at the bottom saying “86 notifications” as 86 new comments have also been made on a status which he commented on.
As matt and i were discussing this, a new person made a comment, looks like she is in for the fun too!
So far, we know that facebook will allow you to have AT LEAST 85 comments on a single status.
If i ever learn how to add photos to this i will post a picture of that 
OMG what about a link to it? Ill try posting the image here but not sure if that will work or not (edit: no it didnt) So that is pretty much it, oh and i got the next week of horoscopes so Im thinking I might add that up regularly to keep this thing from falling in that “sites never updated” catagory..
And I have less than a month of uni aaaaaaaand Im planning on learning a new skill/hobby etc. 
so result so far of experiment/experience – at least 86 comments are possible on the one status … what if it has no limit ????? :O matt and i could be there for a while
EDIT: so at the moment the status comment number stands at 102 comments , maybe 103.
I even dedicated a whole folder on facebook for it
